The Flower Fields

Singletree Farm

After two seasons of field managing for Phoebe, Kate Friesen and her spouse Scott Kempf started Singletree Farm in the fall of 2018. Singletree is committed to growing gorgeous flowers and nourishing produce while respecting and tending for the land where they work. We look at how native ecosystems function to help guide our farming decisions, and are committed toward work that is sustainable for the land as well as our bodies and spirits.

At Kurtzs

Just a mile and a half from the new Flowers by Phoebe Studio in Downtown Goshen, these rich, boggy fields offer us plenty of space to grow succession plantings of some annual blooms and to experiment with more naturalized perennial plantings including pussy willow, curly willow, viburnum, astilbe, ferns, and hostas.

Downtown

Close to Goshen College and the Goshen Health Hospital, our 1/3 acre lot downtown provides us with Elkhart prairie soil, a much sandier soil type where plants such as Thai basil, eucalyptus, zinnias, and asters thrive. We also love providing in-town pollinators with a sweet food source!

Coming Soon…

In October of 2018, Kate and Scott purchased a little over an acre of land near Benton, Indiana, right along the banks of the Elkhart River. The old farmstead was overgrown, but they are currently working at transforming the parcel into their home and the main location of Singletree Farm. Plans for season extension greenhouses, perennials, and annual fields are in the works, and updates will be coming soon!

Other Farmers

Flowers By Phoebe also occasionally sources from other local farmers who supplement our bouquets with different colors and textures. These farmers include:
